Step 1: Open Your Image

The first step is to open your image in Photoshop. Once your image is open, make sure that the layer is unlocked. You can do this by clicking on the lock icon in the layer thumbnail.

Step 2: Click the "Remove Background" Button

With the layer still unlocked, go to the Properties panel. In the Properties panel, scroll down to the Quick Actions section and click on the "Remove Background" button.

Step 3: Refine the Selection

Photoshop will automatically create a selection around your subject. However, you may need to refine the selection to remove any unwanted areas. You can do this by using the Quick Selection Tool, the Magic Wand Tool, or the Pen Tool.

Step 4: Add a Layer Mask

Once you're happy with the selection, click on the "Add Layer Mask" button in the Layers panel. This will create a layer mask that hides the background.

Step 5: Invert the Layer Mask

To make the background transparent, you need to invert the layer mask. You can do this by pressing Ctrl+I (or Cmd+I on a Mac).

Here are some additional tips for removing a white background in Photoshop:

  1. If the background is not perfectly white, you can use the Color Range Tool to select the background color.
  2. If there are any areas that are not being selected properly, you can use the Brush Tool to refine the selection.
  3. You can also use the Eraser Tool to remove any unwanted areas from the layer mask.
